As I was so excited about the post on Kombucha soap a couple of months ago, I decided to try the recipe.. well a “slightly” modified version of it, as I did not have the right oils lying around. The following ingredients found their way into the recipe: cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil and shea butter.
I fear the result is my new favorite soap 😊
This soap, contrary to what I’ve made before, is very, very soft once it comes into contact with water. Additional bonus: it smells great (which sort of happens when you add your favorite essential oils). Only minus: soap presentation, as you will discover below:
- On the left: the soap in one firm block
- On the right: the attempted cutting of the block
I need to mention that it’s the first time I used the block method and wanted to find out for myself that the general advice, to cut the bars after about 24h when producing lump batches of soap (as it only gets harder afterwards), is grounded. And indeed this appears to be the case.
Of note: the soap doesn’t foam much, which, to some people, may be disadvantageous, but it doesn’t bother me much..
What experience do you have with soap-making?
