This version of hot chocolate is inspired on a commercial product, but since it’s too expensive for my taste, I mixed up a blend of similar ingredients, as I had them laying around the kitchen anyway..
Did you ever think about combining Chai (tea) spices with chocolate? And amp up on health benefits, by adding in medicinal mushroom extracts?
Well, this is pretty much what this post is about, a Hot Chocolate Royal:
Mix cocoa powder, Reishi mushroom powder, Lion’s mane powder, cinnamon, vanilla essence, cardamom, ginger , turmeric, salt (or sugar if that’s you’re kinda thing) and boil up with coconut milk, or a mixture of coconut milk and almond milk (50/50 or 75/25) or a combination with another nut/grass/grain milk.
I have deliberately not included amounts because I feel that is a personal thing, I myself use varying amounts all the time depending on how I feel. Mostly I’ll use (in decreasing amounts): cocoa > cinnamon > Lion’s mane > Reishi > turmeric > ginger > vanilla > cardamom > salt.
Go forth and be chocolatty 😀
Post- Post note:
I have resorted to using only cocoa, Reishi, Lion’s mane, cinnamon and cardamom in a water, almond, or highly diluted coconut milk basis. Ginger and turmeric speed up metabolism and I don’t wish upon myself as this increases my already healthy appetite 🙂
